Estimating Facility?Level Monthly Water Consumption of Commercial, Industrial, Municipal, and Thermoelectric Users in Virginia

Understanding water consumption is an important component of management. However, data are limited and coefficients do not account for variability through time across users. This study combines federally maintained discharge with state-maintained withdrawal at monthly steps to estimate facility-level spatially aggregated in Virginia between 2010 2016. We evaluate (1) the feasibility using datasets sub-annual consumption, (2) how these estimates vary depending on level spatial aggregation, (3) what patterns seasonality exist estimates. find that a combined process text matching geospatial analysis effective facilities yielding time-series consumption. Our results suggest median industrial (17%) commercial (19%) may be higher than literature (10%). Consumption also demonstrated more seasons aggregate suggest. Combining this approach institutional knowledge can assist quantifying issues such as inter-basin transfers infiltration impact estimates, ultimately allowing accurate accounts use availability.
